The clearer it is, the more recent.<\/li><li>Look for disturbances among vegetation &amp; trees.<\/li><li>Feeding signs, bones of deceased animals or plants<\/li><li>Droppings (break open with tool to find feeding habits)<\/li><li>Rooting (digging to find roots &amp; insects)<\/li><li>Scent &amp; smell<\/li><li>Burrows &amp; dens<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Weapons<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Spear \u2013 6ft is ideal, 36 inches for throwing<\/li><li>Bow &amp; Arrow \u2013 hickory, juniper, oak, white elm, cedar, ironwood, birch, willow &amp; hemlock<\/li><li>Arrow \u2013 birch is best<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shelters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Teepee (taller is more rain proof, at least 4 poles)<\/li><li>Lean To (make L shape with debris &amp; cover as needed)<\/li><li>Shelter Sheet (fence like design with wall covering)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fire<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Kindling &amp; tinder<\/li><li>Adequate ventilation for fire. The more oxygen introduced, the brighter the fire.<\/li><li>Collect sufficient supplies of tinder, kindling &amp; fuel. Prepare fire so you can control it.<\/li><li>If ground is wet, build fire on top of something.<\/li><li>Sunlight through a lens<\/li><li>Powder from ammunition<\/li><li>Flint or strike on steel for sparks<\/li><li>Fire bow<\/li><li>Hand drill<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note: Save energy, don\u2019t chop wood; break it over rocks or another sturdy tree.
