There are places in Florida where the earth exhales, and crystal clear water pours out. Gilchrist Blue is one of them. Tucked into Ruth B. Kirby Gilchrist Blue Springs State Park just outside High Springs, this second-magnitude spring produces 44 million gallons a day. Not a trickle - a river being born. The water is 72 degrees year-round, so clear you can count every ripple in the sand, every strand of submerged vegetation swaying in the current.
I captured this on a still morning when the spring run was perfect glass. No kayaks. No ripples. Just that unreal Florida blue that looks photoshopped until you see it in person. On high gloss metal, the image does something a paper print can't - the gloss gives it depth. You feel like you could step into it. The light bounces off the aluminum the way sun bounces off the spring itself. It's waterproof, fade-proof, and made to outlive us both.
This is a limited edition of only 25 prints across all sizes. When 25 are gone, this image is retired forever. If you know this spring, you get it.
If you haven't been yet, this will make you go.
